Frequently asked questions

The most popular questions of the medieval era — role-playing games, Trollball and LARP.

Role-playing games

◈What is tabletop role-playing?

Tabletop role-playing can be described as a board game that's close to improv theatre. The quality of the fun depends on the game master (GM). A world is created, like a choose-your-own-adventure book — because you are the hero. Our tables welcome 3 to 8 participants.

◈Why hire you? Anyone can be a game master, right?

In theory, yes — just like everyone knows how to cook. Easy to do, hard to master. Our professional GMs bring out the best in participants, encourage collaboration and foster good habits. In several participating schools, the absence rate drops on activity day.

◈How does the member section work?

The one for teens is reserved for those registered in our after-school D&D or LARP activities. It gives access to a forum and a character-building toolkit. The parent/adult section gives access to our one-off event offerings and lets you register your children for the LARP from May to August.

◈My child has special needs (autism, physical disability) — can they register?

Yes. Several members of our team manage specific needs. As long as we are informed and can count on your cooperation, our activities are designed to be inclusive and open to all.

Live action role-play

◈What is the age range and number of participants for the LARP?

Our LARP is dedicated to youth aged 10 to 18 and welcomes 10 to 45 participants per weekend.

◈My child doesn't attend one of your schools — can they still take part in the LARP?

Yes. All youth aged 10 to 18 are welcome. Our activities are designed to make first contact easy and to include everyone.

◈Do you accommodate allergies, intolerances and dietary restrictions?

Yes. Meals are designed in collaboration with Centre Durocher, with or without meat versions. We avoid common allergens. You must inform us of any allergy risk and the steps to follow in case of contact — our health forms are there for this.

◈Adventure A / B, part 1 / 2 — how does it work?

Adventures A and B share the same starting plot but adapt to participants' choices. Some events differ between A and B, which makes it worthwhile to play both versions, like a video game with multiple endings.

◈What should we bring?

Two days' worth of weather-appropriate clothing, a change of clothes, sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping pad, extra snacks (let us know), costume pieces and approved foam/latex weapons, toiletries, sunscreen, reusable water bottle. Everything else is provided.

◈Is LARP equipment expensive?

It can be, but affordable solutions exist. Our story is set in ancient Greece — a chiton pinned over logo-free clothing, or a black cape, is enough. We also have a partnership with the boutique l'Imaginaire (10% off) and rent foam weapons for $5 for the weekend.
